Jun 9The Assam Cabinet has decided to offer revised pay scales to the teachers of the medical, dental, ayurvedic and nursing colleges besides the agricultural university and the pharmaceutical institutes with effect from 1st January, 2006. The salaries will be fixed according to the revised pay structure as has been fixed by University Grants Commission and the AICTE. A decision to this effect has been taken at the State Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi in Dispur on Tuesday evening.
The Cabinet also approved non-practicing allowance for the teachers and doctors of the medical colleges at the rate of 25 per cent of their monthly basic salary. Official sources said, the new measure will cost the state exchequer to the tune of 275 crore rupees annually.
