President condoles Assam wedding party accident

Guwahati, Jun 11 : Ten days after the accident, President Pratibha Patil has condoled the death of 28 members of a wedding party in a road mishap in Assam’s Kamrup (rural) district.

The President extended her heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased through a letter to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, a release informed here today.

Ms Patil also expressed her satisfaction at the financial assistance extended by the state government to the families of the deceased and the injured.

Twenty-eight people, including the groom and several of his family members, were killed when their bus skidded off a wooden bridge and fell into a deep gorge at Chorabari, near Bijulighat, in Kamrup (rural) district, on the Hajo-Nalbari road on May 31.
