BJP for common debate on Article 370 in J&K

Jammu, Apr 11 : The BJP today expressed its willingness to hold a common debate on the imposition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

”We are willing for a debate on article 370 in J&K with everybody, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah,” BJP national general secretary Arun Jaitley said while commenting on J&K CM’s statement on the issue.

Mr Jaitely, who was addressing a press conference here, said there was no change in BJP’s stand on Article 370, which the party wanted to remove.

He, however, expressed helplessness, saying the removal of the controversial Article needed required strength in Parliament, which is difficult in the present political scenario.

Describing the imposition of Article 370 as a ”tragedy” for the northernmost Himalayan state of the country, the BJP leader said, ”Going for Article 370 is going from the separate status to separatism”.

”What Article 370 has given to this state since its imposition?,” Mr Jaitley asked, asserting that the counterproductivity of the Article in J&K will be clearly reflected in the years to come.
