Guwahati, Feb 4 : The Assam employees’ organisation today demanded that the government should implement a revised payscale that would be on a par with that of central government staff.
The general secretary of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad, Bashab Kalita, said the employees were upset over the tardy pace of work at the state pay commission, which is compiling a report on the new payscale.
“We today submitted our demand to chief minister Tarun Gogoi asking him to immediately introduce the revised payscale for the state’s 4.5 lakh employees,” Kalita said.
The five-member state pay commission, headed by retired bureaucrat Bhaskar Baruah, is unlikely to submit its report within the deadline of May 30, as it has been working at a snail’s space, he said.
Kalita said the state employees would not wait beyond May for the new payscale.
